Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide behavioral system. The idea is to have students learn about proper behavior just like they would reading, math, or science. A school-wide system is in place with different levels of support for students with specific behavioral issues.
Mission: Collaborate with adults to create a safe, equitable, consistent and positive learning environment. Vision: All youth achieve social-emotional-behavorial and academic success |
Here are some ways that we are using PBIS at Pleasant Valley Schools:
- A kickoff celebration where expectations are taught to students for the first time in the school year.
- Monthly celebrations where students who meet PBIS expectations are recognized.
- 2 PBIS Semester Celebrations where students who meet PBIS expectations are allowed to participate in half-day of teacher planned activities.
- Check-In, Check-Out system for students who need extra support in monitoring and checking their behavior.
