The Pleasant Valley PTA held its "Goodies with Grandparents" this morning. Over 160 grandparents and family members showed up to enjoy some delicious treats with students. After breakfast, the family members took home a keepsake craft made by their child/grandchild.
The event was another way to get community members into the school and be a part of their child (or grandchild's)'s education.
Mrs. Tracy Colwell-Forck, elementary principal, was excited for the great turnout and wanted to make sure to point out that the success was in no small part due to members of the elementary school staff. She hopes to see even more parents and grandparents at this event next year!
Both schools in the district were recently recognized by the PBIS Midwest Network for successful implementation and improvement of the PBIS system into their schools.
Pleasant Valley Elementary earned a silver recognition while Pleasant Valley Middle School earned a bronze. For the middle school it was their first recognition by the Midwest Network.
For those unfamiliar, PBIS stands for "Positive Behavior Interventions and Support." PBIS is designed to teach, monitor, and celebrate behavior for students who meet expectations.
Students are invited to attend monthly celebrations for meeting behavioral expectations for 3 of the 4 weeks each month.
Congratulations to both schools on this incredible accomplishment!
